Editorial Policy and Peer Review
The Sophos Journal of Business Science (SJBS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, fairness, transparency, and academic integrity in the publication of scholarly research. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a systematic editorial evaluation followed by a rigorous double-blind peer review before a final decision is made regarding its publication.
Editorial Policy
All manuscripts submitted to SJBS are initially screened by the Editorial Office to determine their suitability with the Aim & Scope of the journal and compliance with the requirements prescribed in the Author Guidelines. During this preliminary evaluation, manuscripts are assessed for originality, relevance, academic quality, clarity of presentation, and adherence to the journal's submission requirements.
Each manuscript is also subjected to plagiarism screening using appropriate similarity-detection software before being considered for peer review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's editorial standards or fall outside its scope may be returned to the authors for technical modification or declined at the preliminary screening stage.
Peer Review Policy
SJBS follows a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.
Following the initial editorial screening, suitable manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts on the basis of originality, significance of the research problem, methodological rigour, quality of analysis, clarity of presentation, relevance of literature, validity of conclusions, and overall contribution to the existing body of knowledge.
Based on the recommendations of the reviewers, the Editorial Board may take one of the following decisions:
- Accept the manuscript for publication.
- Accept subject to minor revisions.
- Invite major revisions and resubmission.
- Reject the manuscript.
Where revisions are recommended, the reviewers' comments are communicated anonymously to the corresponding author for necessary modifications. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation, wherever considered necessary by Editorial Office.
The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests with the Editorial Office, taking into consideration the recommendations of the reviewers and the overall editorial assessment.
Authors are informed of the editorial decision at every significant stage of the review process through electronic communication. While the Journal endeavours to complete the review process within a reasonable timeframe, the duration may vary depending on the availability of reviewers and the extent of revisions required.
The confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, reviewers, and the review process is maintained throughout. Editors and reviewers are expected to perform their responsibilities impartially and maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts entrusted to them during the review process.
