The Sophos Journal of Business Science (SJBS) is an international biannual refereed research journal that aims to provide a knowledge-sharing platform for academicians and researchers to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and disseminate original research on contemporary issues in Business Science and allied disciplines. SJBS, an initiative of the Sophos Educational Society, a registered entity under Section 21 of the Societies Registration Act, 1860, is a humble endeavour to provide an affordable, low-cost processing and publication platform with the objective of encouraging both young researchers and seasoned academicians to publish their research and scholarly work at the national and international level, thereby enhancing the visibility and dissemination of their scholarly work.
The aim of SJBS is to contribute to the existing body of knowledge in Business Science and allied disciplines, particularly in areas where human creativity, decision-making ability, managerial skills, and knowledge are applied to achieve organizational and societal objectives. The journal also encourages interdisciplinary studies that enhance the understanding and application of concepts in Business Science and allied disciplines.
The term Sophism, a method of teaching, is derived from the Greek words Sophia or Sophos, meaning wisdom or wise. Over time, the term came to denote general wisdom, particularly wisdom relating to human affairs, which forms the philosophical foundation of both the Society and the Journal. Guided by this spirit, the Sophos Educational Society has been constituted with the sole objective of promoting, disseminating, and motivating academic wisdom through teaching and research by undertaking initiatives such as publishing journals and books, organizing national and international academic congregations, establishing schools and colleges, and setting up skill development centres.
The Society also seeks to bridge the gap between industry and academia, as well as between rural talent and urban exposure. In a nutshell, it is a journey towards academic excellence.
